On Saturday 24th April Wallsend Eagles played Peterlee Pumas in the North East u15's League. It was inevitable on such a fine day that both teams had to acclimatise to the heat; which saw a water break called half way through the first half.
Peterlee got things going straight away with a good move that put loose forward Alex Ruff in for the first try in the 1st minute. Three minutes later the Pumas attacked again and shifted the ball wide to put wing James Cronin in the corner, Joe Wyman converted. Pumas man of the match George Manser playing in the centers this week crossed on the 8th minute with Wyman adding the extras. Scrum half Jack Adamson got rewarded for another fine performance with one of his many jinking runs that caused confusion in the defence a short while later as he took the ball from the scrum. Hooker Stephen Molyneaux crossed after 18 minutes and Wyman added 2 more points and the Pumas started to ring the changes in the line up. Wallsend struck back with a well worked try taking advantage of loose defence at the ruck but Fullback Jamie Keen hit straight back in the final minute of the half with Wyman adding the extras to make it 32-4 to the visiting Pumas. Wallsend started the second half the better with a well worked try out wide in the 35th minute but center Danny Wilson hit back again for the Pumas with a long run in and Jack Adamson took over the kicking duties to add the 2. Wallsend got another try which was converted but the Pumas hit back with Alex Ruff's 2nd and George Manser also got his brace which Wyman converted. Final score - Wallsend Eagles 14 Peterlee Pumas 48. |
