Eagles returned to their league fixtures, and what a day to play rugby. 26 degrees at kick off time.
The ref decided it was better to play 4 quarters instead of the usual 2 halves to allow plenty of water breaks. The game started at full tilt with the Eagles up for it right from the kick off. It only took the well organised Eagles 2 minutes to register their first try, which was scored by Lee Coleman, with the kick going wide. The Barbarian’s then managed to hold the Eagles for almost 10 minutes until Adam Atkinson scored a barn storming try which was converted by Sinc. Straight from the kick off the Eagles scored again. A great try by new recruit Craig Allen, converted by Sinc. The second quarter was a point a minute by the red hot Eagles as their attacking play was sensational. Try’s by Sinc =2, Liam Whitton = a hat trick and also Josh Taylor managing to get over the line with Sinc converting four of them to make the half time score Eagles 42, Whitley Bay 0. As the 3rd quarter started the Barbarians were very determined to try and score some points of their own but could not breach the Eagles line, which led to them becoming frustrated and giving a penalty away. From the resulting penalty, Alex Glover raced 40 yards to score a great try, which Sinc converted from the touch line. From the kick off good skill by Patrick Sowter and Craig Allan allowed Alex Warrilow to score under the post with Sinc converting. Two minutes passed before Lee Coleman raced over from a great inside ball with Sinc again converting. The final quarter saw the Eagles restricted to only one try, which was a typical Sinc Matthews solo try and he also converted to round the scoring off.
Final score Eagles 72 Whitley Bay 0
